I carry a variety of lenses on every wedding shoot. There are loads of lenses in the market and through the years and after using a wide range of camera gear , I have been able to fine tune my choice of equipment to fit my style of photography.
Below are some of the lenses I use now:
- Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L
- Sigma ART 35mm f1.4
- Canon 50mm f1.2 L
- Canon 24-70mm f2.8 L
- Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG
- Canon 100mm Macro f2.8 IS L
My favorite lens from the list is the 35mm ART lens. I love the focal length of 35mm as well as the shallow ‘depth of field’ it can give it’s images when you open up the aperture to f2.0 or wider. Shooting wide open is where this lens excels and most of the time when I am using it, the aperture is set at f1.4.

The 70-200mm is a versatile lens and I use it for portraits and when I need a longer reach at wedding venues.

The 50mm L f1.2 is a beautiful portrait lens which I use for both portraits and journalistic photos.

The 100mm lens has dual roles, it can be used for photographing little details like wedding rings as well as for portraits. Pictures are sharp with excellent detail. One of my favorite and most used lenses as well.
